Anjali Tendulkar is an Indian pediatrician and is well known as the wife of the legendary Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. She has been sacrificing her own career in order to support and nurture her husband’s dreams and goals.

Anjali Tendulkar Biography :

Anjali was born on 10th November 1967 in Mumbai, India. She belongs to a very wealthy  Gujrati family. Her father Anand Mehta is a renowned industrialist. In contrast, her mother Annabel  Mehta is of British origin and she is the founder of a famous NGO called ” Apanalaya”.

Her great grandfather was an elite landowner which made her grandfather as well as her father very rich. Usually, they were the owner of an extensive amount of property around Mumbai’s most expensive residential zones–Breach Candy. Anjali’s family had a conventional relationship with the Nehru Gandhi family, even Anjali knew Rajiv Gandhi personally since her childhood.

Anjali did her schooling at Bombay International School, Bombay (present Mumbai). Then, she studied medicine at Grant Medical College and practiced as a pediatrician for many years at Mumbai’s JJ Hospital.

She is very kind and humble by nature. In spite of coming from an elite family, she is very compassionate towards the needy. Her hobbies include philanthropic work, listening to music, and travelling. She is also a foodie and loves to try out different restaurants all over the world.

courtship:- Anjali’s first meeting with Sachin was in the year 1990 at an airport. Then, Sachin was just 17 years old and was not a very famous cricketer. Anjali was 25 years old then. She had no idea who he was as she wasn’t an ardent follower of cricket.

She just found him to be cute. After that, they shared their phone number through a common friend. As Anjali was a medical student and Sachin was travelling all over the world for his tournaments, their long-distance relationship continued through phone calls and letters. ‘Raja’ was the first film they saw together in a cinema hall before the wedding.

At first, Anjali did not reveal her true identity and Sachin knew her as a journalist. Later, he was surprised to know about the original background of Anjali. However, on a fine day, Sachin proposed to her and their relationship became fruitful and finally they got engaged in 1994 in New Zealand.

Marriage:- Finally, after 5 long years of dating, the couple got married on 24 May 1995 in Mumbai. They welcomed their daughter, Sara on 12 October 1997. On 4th September 1999, their son Arjun was born.

Life post Wedding:-  By profession, Anjali was a Pediatrician and worked at JJ Hospital in Mumbai. After the birth of Arjun , she gave up her career in order to support her husband and took care of her family. Anjali faced the toughest time when India crashed out of the 2007 World Cup before entering the second round. In that situation, Anjali shielded her husband and kids from the animosity of the Media and public.

Sachin is undoubtedly a great player. But Anjali Tendulkar ‘s  contribution and sacrifice over the years made her” the god of cricket” in original sense of the term.
